Thomas Albert is currently Associate Dean, Professor of Music at Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music. Born in Lebanon, PA, Professor Albert attended Atlantic Christian College graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1970. His education continued at Barton College and the University of Illinois. Teachers include William Duckworth, Paul Martin Zonn and Ben Johnston. His music is performed throughout the United States , Europe , Brazil , Japan and Korea. Commissions include grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Charles Ives Center for American Music. His best-known work, "Thirteen Ways." commissioned by eighth blackbird, is a part of the group’s touring repertoire and is excerpted on their CD, Round Nut Tool. Eighth blackbird also commissioned incidental music for the Cincinnati College-Conservatory’s production of Angels in America , Part One: The Millenium Approaches.
