View All Composers Mark SayaMark Saya (b. 1954, Michigan City, Indiana) studied composition at Indiana University South Bend with Barton McLean and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with Norman Dinerstein, Jonathan Kramer, and Allen Sapp. He currently teaches at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, California. His works have been presented in Canada, Germany, Poland, and throughout the United States, including performances at the Great Hall of Cooper Union, Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and many major universities. Saya has enjoyed a long association with The Percussion Group/Cincinnati, particularly with founding members Allen Otte and James Culley, who have premiered and championed many of his compositions, including The Murphy Sonata (1979), From the Book of Imaginary Beings (1986), Attention Span (1985), and Bachanons (1998). In 2004 pianist Wojciech Kocyan recorded 7 Preludes Revisited for Dux Recording Producers. Saya is a member of BMI.
